Main Attractions in the Amazon
Region
Kuelap:
the city of South America's largest stone, which is
three times more than building great pyramid of
Cheops in Egypt. Located on a mountain three
thousand feet high, which has a spectacular view of
the mountains that surround it, with more than 500
houses and surrounded by a wall of over 600 meters
long by 120 meters wide and over 20 meters on
average, with three doors.
Gocta Waterfall:
third highest
waterfall in the world at 771 meters high, (as a
building of 300 floors). It has the privilege of
being surrounded by an area of innate natural beauty,
including forests, home to monkeys, cockerels with
rocks and other spectacular ways with orchids and
streams. Where one can traverse either a walk or
ride to enjoy their wonderful charms.
Inbound access is through the beautiful village of
Cocachimba which is surrounded by mountains which in
winter fall several waterfalls. Being 40 minutes
from the city of Chachapoyas. Which has a temperate
climate.
Ocol palms and Valle
Rodríguez de Mendoza:
spectacular natural reserve unique in the world,
with 10 thousand hectares of white-stemmed palm that
grows above 2,000 meters, where ferns are also red
and tree ferns (prehistoric), located in the east of
the Andes to 2 hours from the city of Chachapoyas.
That further down the valley of Rodriguez de
Mendoza, find one of the most stunning scenery in
Peru, with a semi-tropical climate where my fruit
grown organic coffee.
City Chachapoyas and
Canyon Huancas:
Chachapoyas is a city of colonial court, unique in
the North East of Peru, one of the first cities
founded in Peru, which offers museums, orquidiareo,
colonial houses.
Just 15 minutes away is located the gun Sonche
huancas or one of the most spectacular in Peru, with
a vertical drop over 1,000 feet deep, considered the
most impressive by travelers who visit it.
Revash:
It is located in the District of Santo Tomas in the
province of Luya, some 60 km south of Chachapoyas,
capital of Amazonas Region. Although no measurements
have Revash archaeological site of the associated
archeological area must have an area of
approximately 300 hectares. Construction of funeral
homes are painted on the slopes of the huge rocks,
may reach three floors and are decorated with
paintings of animals red ocher. We found traces of

Lake of the Condors:
Located 93 km south of the city of Chachapoyas (2
hours 30 minutes by car) leads to the town of
Leymebamba where you travel 45 km to the lake (12
hours on foot and by mule). It absolutely requires
the presence of a guide.
Also known as Lake of the Mummies in a cliff because
its banks are located more than 200 mummies found in
good condition despite the hot and humid climate of
the area. Together with the mummies were found about
3000 objects belonging to the Inca and Chachapoyas.
The walls are decorated with paintings.
Leimebamba Museum:
Leimebamba, located 2 hours from the city of
Chachapoyas, we move from this district to drive 20
minutes to reach the Museum, which houses a 230
mummies that were rescued from the Lagoon of the
Condors. The visit begins with an overview of the
Chachapoyas culture, continues with the model of the
Lake of the Condors and the tour of the room where
the mummies are in an environment specially designed
for conservation.
Cave Quiocta
One of the jewels of tourism in the region of
Chachapoyas is the Cave of Quiocta. It is a cavity
located in Lamud, Province of Luya, an hour and a
half from the city of Chachapoyas in a westerly
direction. The discovery of the cave uncovered a
cavity practical substance of what is customary in
the area. This is a whimsical work of mother nature
and we must contribute together to become the first
tourist attraction of Peru Caving
Coffin Karajia
Karajia, enigmatic "purunmachos" as they say
lugarteños of Amazon, or better known "Sarcophagus
of Karajía" `unique in the world, its location is
strategic: they are placed at the edges of a rock
cliff calcácea, as if the had left there to guard
the development of life (because they face the abyss)
from the peaks of death. In fact, it seems that
there its left Chachapoyas lords to stop in later
years could ransack their sarcophagi. The sarcophagi
are made sculptures that are over six feet tall and
consist of head and chest, forming a compact capsule
clay funeral mourner. The route starts in the city
of Chachapoyas, where it travels to Caclic (30
minutes by paved road). Then take the road to Luya
(30 minutes via asserted), and then west to bribery
(30 minutes), then continues north to San Miguel de
Cruzpata (30 minutes) and finally in a hike of 50
minutes until the Sarcófafos.
